Walter Koenig: ‘My Son Took His Own Life’

Walter Koenig and his wife Judy said at a press conference on Thursday evening that their son Andrew Koenig, the previously missing "Growing Pains" actor, had committed suicide.

The "Star Trek" star's voice trembled with emotion as he shared the sad news about the loss of his 41-year-old son, whose body was discovered in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Thursday. Walter said that Andrew had close friends in the city who encouraged him to join them on another sweep of the park today. He said one of his son's friends found Andrew's body during their search.

"We've already said what a great guy he was and a good human being … He was obviously in a lot of pain," the grieving father said of his son.
