ET has learned that Mel Gibson is the focus of a domestic violence investigation.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is investigating the star over a possible domestic violence incident that allegedly occurred on January 6.

The incident under investigation involved Gibson's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva. ET has learned that the alleged victim was interviewed on Monday.
