Report: Police Focus on Possible Break in Stacy Peterson Disappearance
More than two years after the suspicious disappearance of Stacy Peterson, the Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation this weekend. The Chicago Sun-Times said authorities are digging in an area east of Peoria. Her husband Drew Peterson is a prime suspect in the case.
Peoria County Coroner Johanna Ingersoll told the newspaper on Saturday morning, "There is a search underway for human remains, however no human remains have been located at this point." She did not confirm the specific locale of the search or if the happenings are related to the Peterson case.
Stacy Peterson's family is also reportedly at the scene of the ongoing investigation. This newly sparked interest in the Peoria area took flight after a canine unit was used Friday in the region.
