Randy Quaid and Wife Found Squatting in Old House
Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi were reportedly arrested this weekend on charges of felony residential burglary after they were found living in a guest house without permission.
The Santa Barbara County sheriff's deputies were notified on Saturday afternoon that the Quaids were squatting in their old house, the Associated Press reports. They were arrested and charged with a misdemeanor of entering a noncommercial building without consent, in addition to their burglary charge. Evi, 47, was also charged with resisting arrest, and bail was set at $50,000 each.
Last September, the Quaids were charged with defrauding an innkeeper out of more than $10,000 in addition to conspiracy and burglary after they were accused of bailing on their bill after staying at the upscale San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. The couple claimed to have later paid their bill, but authorities continued to pursue the case against them. The felony charges against Randy were dropped in April, while his wife Evi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.
