Police Describe ‘Balloon Boy”s Emotional Family Reunion
Officials from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office are speaking out about six-year-old Falcon Heene's jubilant reunion with his parents after he was found alive. Plus, new details about where the little boy was hiding and why!
Sheriff Jim Alderden told reporters that Falcon, who was initially believed to have flown thousands of feet in the air in his father Richard Heene's homemade balloon, was actually hiding in the rafters of his family’s garage. He wasn’t found after the family home was searched twice, and the sheriff says that around 4 p.m., he simply "came down of his own volition and just walked into the house."
A police investigator added that the family’s reaction was “ecstatic.” “Both parents were just smothering the poor little boy,” he said. “There was just a lot of hugging.”
