Paris Hilton Detained in Japan
Paris Hilton can't run away from her problems. ET confirms the heiress is being detained in Tokyo, Japan, after she plead guilty in Nevada on Monday to two misdemeanors including a drug charge.
Paris, 29, was stopped by immigration officials at Tokyo's Narita airport following her arrival into the country on a business trip. The socialite tweeted earlier that day, writing: "On my way to my Asia to debut my Fall/Winter Collections. So excited to see all my fans. First stop - Tokyo." She also linked to a story detailing her Asian tour that would unveil her upcoming clothing collection.
Due to Paris' recent drug charges and sentence, authorities in Japan were considering refusing her entry into the country, People.com reports. A rep for the heiress commented to ET on the situation, saying, "Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans. She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight's events."
