P.I. Says Joran van der Sloot Should Have Been Arrested Before Peru Trip
ET has obtained a criminal complaint against Joran van der Sloot -- the primary suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway -- which accuses him of blackmail.
The 22-year-old was reportedly involved in an extortion sting before he went to Peru; authorities now say Joran admitted to killing a young woman in his hotel room while he stayed there.
The Associated Press reports that private investigator Bo Dietl says Joran should have been arrested after FBI agents recorded a meeting last month in Aruba, during which Joran allegedly extorted money from a Holloway family attorney. In exchange for money, he is said to have provided information about what he claimed happened the night Natalee disappeared, including where she was buried. Two federal agents told the AP that they did not arrest Joran because they were trying to help build a murder case against him in the 5-year-old case.
