Missing Teen Sailor Found Safe

Abby Sunderland, the 16-year-old girl from California who was sailing solo around the world when a storm knocked out her satellite phone gear early Thursday, has been found alive and well.

A search party aboard a jet spotted Abby’s boat in the Indian Ocean late Thursday and made contact with her by radio, family spokesman William Bennett tells the Associated Press.

"Abby's in an okay condition; the yacht's damaged but it’s seaworthy," Bennett says. "She's aware that there are other boats on the way to her location."
