Michigan Pair Convicted in John Stamos Extortion Plot
A Michigan couple has been convicted of trying to extort $680,000 from actor John Stamos by threatening to sell photos that the couple claimed showed the actor partying with strippers and using cocaine.
Allison Coss, 24, and Scott Sippola, 31, were found guilty of conspiracy and using e-mail to threaten a person's reputation -- charges that could send them to prison for up to five years, the Associated Press reports.
The couple was arrested in December in an FBI sting operation. FBI agents testified that a search of the couple's home failed to turn up any evidence of embarrassing pictures. Assistant U.S. Attorney Maarten Vermaat told the jury the couple's claims were "100 percent made up," and he described the attempt as a "get-rich-quick scheme."
