Jaycee Dugard: Parole Agents Blew Opportunities to Rescue Me
A new report from the California attorney general's office alleges that state parole agents interacted with Jaycee Dugard and her older daughter while they were allegedly being held captive by Phillip Garrido, but the agents "failed to investigate their identities or their relationship to Garrido."
The report was sent to lawmakers before they voted last week to settle with the Dugard family for $20 million, says the Associated Press.
Dugard and her daughters -- allegedly fathered by Garrido -- claimed they might have been rescued sooner if parole agents had followed up on potential leads presented to them, says the AP. They also claim the agents didn't properly supervise Garrido beginning in 1999.
