Jackson Estate & AEG Agree to Pay a Million for Michael’s Memorial
Michael Jackson's estate and concert promoter AEG have agreed to donate $1.3 million to the city of L.A. for the King of Pop's 2009 public memorial.
The July 7, 2009 memorial at the STAPLES Center incurred $1.3 million in police services, permits, and Sanitation Department and Transportation Department expenses, the City's Chief Administrative Officer determined.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and AEG President & CEO Timothy J. Leiweke announced that the Jackson estate and AEG will donate $1 million to the city of Los Angeles' general fund and an additional $300,000 in cash and needed crime-fighting equipment through financial contributions to the L.A. Police Foundation.
