German Home Searched in Connection to Alleged Cindy Crawford Extortion Scheme

A German apartment was raided over the weekend in connection to a man that was charged by U.S. authorities with allegedly trying to extort money from Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber.

German police confirmed to the Associated Press that several items were taken from the home located in the Stuttgart area during the Saturday search but that no one was arrested. Officials would not confirm if the alleged extortionist, twenty-six-year-old Edis Kayalar, will be charged in Germany in addition to the one charge of extortion that he faces in the U.S. It is also unclear as to whether the apartment raided belonged to Kayalar.

Court papers filed by the F.B.I have revealed that Kayalar was an acquaintance of Crawford and Gerber's former nanny. He allegedly threatened to sell a photo of their daughter Kaia which reportedly featured her bound and gagged and tied to a chair in shorts and a t-shirt. The photo was taken by the nanny when the girl was seven years old.
