Christopher Andersen’s Revelations on the President & First Lady

Christopher Andersen, who has previously written about the Kennedys, the Clintons and Princess Diana, puts pen to paper for a new book about the president and first lady, Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage.

"They have had some very rough times in their marriage," Andersen tells ET, going on to say that the couple's early days were especially difficult as they had big student loans to pay off and his state senator's position didn't pay much.

According to Andersen, "When he turned down a $300,000 job offer to run a foundation, Michelle blew up and she basically gave him an ultimatum. She said, 'Either you put your family first or that is it.' He was in Springfield four nights a week, and Michelle was back in Chicago with two very young children, she finally had had enough. And she said, 'No, I did not sign on for this.'"
