Chaz Bono Takes Steps to Legally Change His Name & Gender
ET has learned that Chaz Bono has taken steps to change his legal name and gender.
A rep for Chaz tells ET, "Chaz Bono has filed a formal petition in California Superior Court to legally change his name and gender. He is legally changing his name from Chastity to Chaz as part of his gender transition."
In legal filings obtained by ET, Chaz's doctor Dr. Michael L. Brownstein states that on September 23, 2009, Chaz underwent an "irreversible surgical procedure for the purpose of altering Chaz Bono's sex characteristics from female to male."
