Carol Burnett’s Heartbreak and ‘This Time Together’
Carol Burnett's highly anticipated memoir This Time Together: Laughter and Reflections is out today, and our own Mary Hart goes one-on-one with the comedy legend about her hit TV career, the day she fired Harvey Korman, and her heartbreak over the death of her daughter.
"Even though Carrie is not with us anymore, I am grateful that she was a light in my life," says Carol of her daughter Carrie Hamilton, who died in 2002 of lung and brain cancer at the age of 38. "I would rather have had her with me than never have known her."
Asked if one can ever get over the death of a child, Carol responds, "No. You learn to cope. … I am able to cope now and her memory is very strong."
