Angelina Jolie Makes Second Video for World Refugee Day
United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie sent out a special message while at the Amazon Basin in South America in regards to Sunday, June 20, being World Refugee Day.
In a video clip posted on the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' website, Jolie speaks with a woman, who did not want her identity revealed, that shares her experience as a refugee.
Jolie says prior to her conversation with the woman, "I was in this region about eight years ago and at the time there were about 300 registered refugees. Today, there are over 50,000 registered and over 100,000 identified. That's in part because of the growing tension in Columbia ... but also because of the hard work of the UNHCR field officers who've been coming deep into the jungle, into the field, and identifying and finding families and registering them."
