Erik Estrada hit the streets of New York City Tuesday, where hundreds of New Yorkers "got sighted" by the "healthy eye officer" for not protecting their eyes. Estrada joined forces with Transitions Optical to help raise awareness for eye health and properly protecting one's eyes from potentially harmful sunlight rays. Dressed in full uniform, the iconic former "CHiPs" star patrolled the streets of the Big Apple to hand out violations such as "Visual Abandonment" and "Indecent Exposure."

In a new interview, the mother of Joran van der Sloot offered an apology to the parents of the woman allegedly killed by her son.
In an interview Dutch news station The Telegraph, obtained by ABC News, Anita van der Sloot spoke candidly about her son and his purported troubles.
"I hope that he gets a chance to talk with the parents of Stephany Flores, and that he can tell them what happened. And I apologize for them ... that he's my son. He's not a monster. He can be very gentle, but it could be that he has bipolar personality. I hope he gets the help," she said in the interview.

A judge is allowing Nicole Richie more time to finish her alcohol education classes.
Court records indicate that a judge extended Richie's probation until next March and ordered her to complete her classes by next February.
In July 2007, the former "Simple Life" reality star pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Joran van der Sloot has reportedly told a Dutch newspaper that it is his own fault that he's in a Peruvian prison, saying that he believes that the FBI lured him to Peru in order to extradite him to the United States on extortion charges.
Joran is the main suspect in the killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Lima, and is also a person of interest in the 2005 disappearance of American Natalee Holloway in Aruba. He has also been charged with extorting $25,000 from Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty. According to ABC News, van der Sloot told the De Telegraaf that he was invited to a poker tournament in Lima, Peru by a man named "Garcia." This is where he met Flores.

Amid rumors that Kate Gosselin will file for full custody of her eight children with ex-husband Jon Gosselin, ET has the latest in their custody development.
It appears the latest gossip surrounding the couple is mere speculation, as a source close to the Gosselins tells ET that that neither parent plans to file for full custody.

In the latest gossip from across the pond, one tabloid newspaper is claiming that Prince Harry and longtime girlfriend Chelsy Davy have called it quits, but an Us magazine source says that this is not the case.
According to News of the World, Davy, 24, broke up with the prince, 25, and plans to return to her family in Zambia, South Africa to start a legal career. Us magazine's source says the paper "jumped the gun" in their report but do not deny that Davy's reported decision to move is putting a strain on the couple's relationship.

Citing a problem he has been trying to deal with "for years," a rep for Chris Klein says the actor has checked into rehab.
According to People.com, the 'American Pie' star checked himself into rehab to complete a 30 day alcohol addiction program.
"After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years," his rep tells the magazine. "He understands now that he can not beat this disease alone. He thanks everyone for their support as he takes all the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and asks for privacy while doing so."

Joran van der Sloot now claims he was tricked into confessing to the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez in Peru. The Associated Press reports that Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf interviewed the 22-year-old in his prison cell, where he reportedly recanted his murder confession. "I was very scared and confused during the interrogations and wanted to get away," he's quoted as telling De Telegraaf, according to the AP. "In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn't even know what it said."
