Following the tragic news of Senator Edward M. Kennedy's passing, former President George H. W. Bush offers his condolences.
Bush released the following statement:
"Barbara and I were deeply saddened to learn Ted Kennedy lost his valiant battle with cancer. While we didn’t see eye-to-eye on many political issues through the years, I always respected his steadfast public service -- so much so, in fact, that I invited him to my library in 2003 to receive the Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service. Ted Kennedy was a seminal figure in the United States Senate -- a leader who answered the call to duty for some 47 years, and whose death closes a remarkable chapter in that body’s history.

The CBS television network will air a primetime special reflecting on the life of the late Senator Edward "Teddy" Kennedy.
The special, titled "Ted Kennedy: The Last Brother," will be anchored by Katie Couric tonight from 8-9 p.m. ET/PT.
Senator Kennedy, the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, died Tuesday at his Massachusetts home of brain cancer. He was 77.

In the wake of Michael Jackson's death and the alleged questionable medical practices surrounding it, the late King of Pop's friend Dr. Susan Etok has written a letter to the White House asking for stricter consequences for doctors who "over-prescribe and mis-prescribe." "I wrote to President Obama requesting that there were harsher measures against people found to over-prescribe and mis-prescribe," Dr. Etok confirms to ET. "What really killed Michael was the doctors -- the doctors that were prescribing him medications, over-prescribing." Dr. Etok does not single out any one specific doctor. Rather, she writes to Mr. Obama, "Due to his vast wealth and celebrity status, Michael was the victim of manipulation by means of his addiction. It is my belief that no individual Doctor is responsible for Michael's death, rather, a catalogue of Doctors who were enlisted/aided by a collection of organizations that had an interest in Michael's finances."

Chris Brown was officially sentenced in L.A. on Tuesday afternoon after his hearing was pushed up from August 27 -- and he's been ordered to not contact his former girlfriend Rihanna for five years. The judge sentenced Brown to receive five years of probation, six months of community labor in Virginia (his home state), and ordered him to not contact Rihanna and keep 100 yards away from her -- 10 yards if they both attend a music biz event -- for the next five years. The R&B star's community labor will be supervised by the Richmond, VA chief of police.

Dr. Drew Pinsky -- addiction medicine specialist and resident doctor on VH1's reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" -- reacts to the shocking reports of Michael Jackson's medical care.
"I've never heard of Propofol being given outside a hospital," Dr. Drew tells ET, following claims made in a search affidavit that Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, allegedly treated the singer for insomnia with the drug.
He says of the search warrant details, "That is an outlandish maneuver and [Propofol] is certainly never given for insomnia."

Eddie Cibrian's estranged wife Brandi Granville continues to speak out about her husband's rumored affair with LeAnn Rimes, saying she sensed they had an attraction to one another.
"They were very touchy-feely," Brandi tells People. She noticed their behavior while out on double dates with LeAnn and Dean Sheremet during the time their respective partners filmed their Lifetime movie "Northern Lights."
"We went to play pool, went for sushi, dancing," Brandi says, adding that while it's not unusual for women to flirt with her hubby, "it was different this time. It was a little more reciprocated."
