Video: Lawrence Taylor Appears in Court

Lawrence Taylor appeared in court Thursday, facing charges that he raped a 16-year-old girl.

Taylor was charged with a felony count of third degree rape (in which a person over the age of 21 has sexual intercourse with a person who is younger than 17) as well as a misdemeanor count of patronizing a prostitute. Bail for the football great was set at $75,000, and a temporary restraining order was granted to the alleged victim until October 6, 2010.

A lawyer for Taylor said in court, “Lawrence Taylor is denying these charges. … He’s a caring and loving family man.”
