Latest: Prosecutor Moves to Oppose Roman Polanski Sentencing from Afar
A prosecutor has reportedly filed legal papers documenting his opposition to Roman Polanski's request to be sentenced from afar related to a 32-year-old sex case.
The Associated Press reports that Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said Friday that the film director, who is on house arrest in Switzerland, is a "convicted child rapist" and a fugitive who should not dictate how the case should proceed in the courts.
The filing comes on the heels of Polanski's recent request to a Los Angeles judge to be sentenced in absentia without having to return to the United States.
