Brooke Shields on Sarah Palin Postpartum Depression Speculation
Actress Brooke Shields was honored for her work with depression advocacy at the Hope for Depression Research Foundation New York Seminar and Luncheon on Monday -- and we asked the star whether she thought former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin may have suffered from postpartum depression while campaigning for office last year.
ET raised the question to Shields (who battled her own postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter Rowan in 2003) after a Vanity Fair report last August claimed that John McCain's aides questioned Palin's mental state and raised the question, "Was it possible that [Palin] was experiencing postpartum depression?"
"I'm certainly in no position to talk about Sarah Palin's biochemistry," Shields, who was presented with the Inaugural HOPE Award for Depression Advocacy, told ET. "I don't know her or her insides, but you know, again, I think the interesting thing to take out of that -- that in an odd way, it's still coming to the forefront of our discussions…."
