Paris Hilton is speaking out after news broke that she has been detained and then cleared in an incident related to suspicion of marijuana possession in South Africa. ET has learned that Melissa Etheridge filed papers in Los Angeles Friday to officially end her domestic partnership with Tammy Lynn Micheals. In the papers, Etheridge cites irreconcilable differences as the cause for the split, and asks to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Michaels. Paris Hilton's rep tells ET the marijuana case against Hilton in South Africa has been dropped and claims the incident was a big misunderstanding. "Paris Hilton was questioned today by police in South Africa on allegations of smoking marijuana," Hilton's rep tells us. "However I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it. "The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made. The authorities have apologized for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident," Hilton's rep adds. She seeks primary physical custody of the couple's children -- daughter Mason, 8, and son Jude, 5.
