ET breaks news that actress Dixie Carter, best known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker on the hit sitcom "Designing Women," has died. She was 70 years old.
"This has been a terrible blow to our family," her husband Hal Holbrook tells ET. "We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy. Thank you."
In addition to Holbrook, her husband of nearly 26 years, the actress is survived by her two daughters Mary Dixie and Ginna.

After taking to his Twitter regarding Tiger Woods' affairs, saying, "No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity," Jim Carrey is now clarifying his remarks.
"I want 2 make it CLEAR that I do not condone infidelity at all, but 2 some degree the responsibility 4 it is shared by both people," the actor says in his latest tweet.
On Friday, the star tweeted: "No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity. Elin had [to be] a willing participant on the ride [for] whatever reason."

Jim Carrey is tweeting more of his candid thoughts about the Tiger Woods sex scandal, one day after suggesting that Woods' wife Elin Nordegren must have known the golf great was having affairs.
"Tiger was wrong and Elin was ignoring the obvious," Carrey tweeted Saturday morning, responding to a fellow Twitter user who'd commented on his post from the previous day.

World leaders and officials including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Queen Elizabeth II are offering their condolences in the wake of the tragedy that claimed the lives of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, First Lady Maria Kaczynski and reportedly more than 90 others on Saturday.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kaczynski family, the loved ones of those killed in this tragic plane crash, and the Polish nation," President Obama said, according to the Associated Press.
Kaczynski, his first lady wife, and 95 other individuals, including some of Poland's most distinguished military and civilian leaders, died Saturday when the presidential plane crashed while trying to land in thick fog in Russia, says the AP. There were no survivors.
