Bob Newhart to Celebrate 50 Years in Showbiz

Comedian Bob Newhart is gearing up to celebrate 50 years of his storied showbiz career. The comedian is celebrating his 50th anniversary by presenting two of his best films at the American Cinematheque's Aero Theatre in Santa Monica -- 'Hot Millions' (1968) and 'Cold Turkey' (1971), which stars Dick Van Dyke. The funnyman will also discuss his illustrious career on March 9 at a Grammy Museum tribute and on June 1 at a TV Academy salute. Tiger Woods Only on Brief Hiatus from Rehab

Following his anticipated press conference that is to take place on Friday morning, Tiger Woods has plans to report back to rehab. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem wrote a letter Thursday explaining the timing of events to take place in the days to come. According to the Associated Press, the note reads in part: "As we understand it, Tiger's therapy called for a week's break at this time during which he has spent a few days with his children and then will make his statement before returning. Accordingly, there was very little flexibility in the date for the announcement." The golfer will speak during a golf tournament sponsored by Accenture, the first company to drop Woods. Finchem's letter, according to the AP, said that the PGA Tour spoke to Accenture about the scheduling of the press conference and "they understand that the PGA Tour was not involved in determining the ... Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps on Tiger Woods

On the eve of Tiger Woods' first televised comments since his November car accident and infidelity allegations, Michael Phelps spoke to ET in Vancouver about the embattled golfer. Phelps, in town as a spectator for the Winter Olympics, told ET, "I think the biggest thing with the Tiger thing [is that] I just want him and his family to take time, and to take time for themselves. I think that's one of the most important things in life -- family -- and really being able to have them and have them by your side and have them a part of your life is very special and meaningful. Golf Journalists to Boycott Tiger Woods Public Statement

The Board of Directors of the Golf Writers Association of America voted Thursday to boycott attending a public statement Tiger Woods will give Friday. "I cannot stress how strongly our board felt that this should be open to all media and also for the opportunity to question Woods," GWAA president Vartan Kupelian said. "The position, simply put, is all or none. This is a major story of international scope. PGA Commissioner Says Tiger Woods Went to Rehab

PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem has confirmed that Tiger Woods went to rehab. In an interview transcript, which was posted on the PGA TOUR Web site on Thursday, Finchem commented about Woods' upcoming press conference, saying in part: "I don't know what [Woods'] plans are in terms of what he's going to say. I don't know what he's going to do after he finishes his rehab, you know, I think all of that is TBD. You all will make up your own minds about that and write about it and so will fans and people that have been impacted by it." According to ABC News, Finchem also said, "He got out of rehab last week … and he spent some time with his family, and he has time for this tomorrow and he’ll address the details of that tomorrow."
