Following his anticipated press conference that is to take place on Friday morning, Tiger Woods has plans to report back to rehab. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem wrote a letter Thursday explaining the timing of events to take place in the days to come. According to the Associated Press, the note reads in part: "As we understand it, Tiger's therapy called for a week's break at this time during which he has spent a few days with his children and then will make his statement before returning. Accordingly, there was very little flexibility in the date for the announcement." The golfer will speak during a golf tournament sponsored by Accenture, the first company to drop Woods. Finchem's letter, according to the AP, said that the PGA Tour spoke to Accenture about the scheduling of the press conference and "they understand that the PGA Tour was not involved in determining the ...

On the eve of Tiger Woods' first televised comments since his November car accident and infidelity allegations, Michael Phelps spoke to ET in Vancouver about the embattled golfer.
Phelps, in town as a spectator for the Winter Olympics, told ET, "I think the biggest thing with the Tiger thing [is that] I just want him and his family to take time, and to take time for themselves. I think that's one of the most important things in life -- family -- and really being able to have them and have them by your side and have them a part of your life is very special and meaningful. I am wishing him and his family the best.
"And he's the greatest golfer of all time and you know, I enjoy, I love watching him," Phelps continued. "Whether he decides to come back or not, that's his decision. The good thing is, you ...

The Board of Directors of the Golf Writers Association of America voted Thursday to boycott attending a public statement Tiger Woods will give Friday.
"I cannot stress how strongly our board felt that this should be open to all media and also for the opportunity to question Woods," GWAA president Vartan Kupelian said.
"The position, simply put, is all or none. This is a major story of international scope. To limit the ability of journalists to attend, listen, see and question Woods goes against the grain of everything we believe."

Sports writer Joe Logan, executive producer of myphillygolf.com, weighs in on Friday's scheduled Tiger Woods press conference, telling ET, "People will watch him very closely tomorrow to see if this man is truly sorry for what he's done." "It is a very controlled environment," says Logan of the way the press conference is being handled. "No one will be able to ask questions. Tiger is going to read a statement, and that's it. ... No one thinks this is the right way to do it that I've talked to. They think he needs to answer questions." If Logan could ask his own question at the press conference, he says it would be, "What the heck were you thinking? How do you explain this behavior? This is behavior that is so outside the realm of your image, what people thought you were, that you've got some explaining to do."

In what is believed to be his first public sighting since his headline-grabbing car accident last November, Tiger Woods was snapped taking a jog outside on Wednesday near Orlando, FL. The public sighting comes on the heels of the news that Woods will hold a press conference on Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the PGA Tour headquarters to apologize for his behavior and discuss what's to come in the future for him. Woods' agent told ET earlier Wednesday, "Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior. While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him.
