Patrick Swayze Passes Away

Actor Patrick Swayze has died. He was 57. Patrick passed away on Monday in Los Angeles surrounded by family. The actor had been battling pancreatic cancer since being diagnosed in early 2008. Determined to fight his illness, Patrick resolutely continued working on his A&E series "The Beast" throughout his cancer treatments and also spent as much time as he could with wife of 34 years Lisa Niemi and their family. Sylvester Stallone walked the red carpet at the 66th Venice Film Festival on Saturday night to pick up a prestigious award. David Letterman Helps to Open New Heart Center

Talk show host David Letterman attended the opening ceremony Monday of a new heart center in New York City. Former patient Letterman was on hand at the unveiling of the Ron O. Perelman Heart Institute of New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and spoke of the medical facility fondly. "When I’m here, I see a lot of people I know, a lot of people that, because of their efforts, I’m still living -- if you can call a steady diet of oat bran and egg whites living," he joked, and then continued in seriousness, "It's fun to be back here and this is a tremendous facility."
